By November 19, 2015
A sneak peak of BBC’s upcoming Dramas has been released in the BBC Pure Drama trailer.

Narrated by Doctor Foster actress Suranne Jones, reading Ella Wheeler Wilcox’s poem ‘Solitude’, the BBC Drama trailer features many productions which were worked on by our clients this year. They include new dramas such as Undercover, War and Peace, The Night Manager, Close to the Enemy, and Dickensian; alongside returning series’; Sherlock, Call the Midwife, Doctor Who, Silent Witness, Hollow Crown, Peaky Blinders and Death in Paradise.

Undercover is a six-part contemporary political thriller from Silk creator Peter Moffat, which focuses on a high-flying lawyer who is about to become the first black Director of Public Prosecutions, when she learns that her husband has been keeping a dark secret from her.
Our clients Maggie Chapplehow – Costume Designer and Charlotte Scott-Grey – Camera Trainee (Dailies) worked on the drama which stars Sophie Okonedo and Adrian Lester in the lead roles
War and Peace is a six-part adaptation of the classic Leo Tolstoy novel.  Made by BBC Drama Wales, in partnership with The Weinstein Company and Lookout Point. The all-star cast includes; Lily James, Paul Dano, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson and Brian Cox (to name a few). Directed by Tom Harper, the Sound Recordist was our very own Chris Ashworth who is currently working on ‘The Crown’ for Left Bank Pictures. The full trailer for War and Peace, which airs this winter can be found HERE.
Another six-part drama airing on BBC One is the adaptation of John Le Carré's, The Night Manager. Matthew Patnick, Line Producer, worked on the drama produced by Ink Factory for broadcast on BBC and AMC, as did Assistant Art Director, Vicki Stevenson.
This contemporary interpretation of the titular novel, which follows ex-British soldier who is recruited to infiltrate the inner circle of an arms dealer. Tom Hiddleston heads up a stellar cast including Olivia Coleman, Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, Russell Tovey, Neil Morrisey and David Harewood.

Close to the Enemy, a new Stephen Polikaff six-part thriller, set in a World War II bomb damaged London Hotel will premiere in 2016 on BBC2 in the UK and Starz in the US.

Si Bell worked on this drama as 2nd Unit DoP, featuring (yet again) an all start cast!
Charles Dickens’ novels have been adapted into a 20-part period drama, Dickensian. We had Steadicam Operator, Fabrizio Sciarra doing dailies on the drama, which re-imagines the world of Dickens bringing together the likes of Oliver Twist, Ebenezer Scrooge, Miss Havisham and Fagin along with many more of the classic characters.
Sherlock will be returning to our screen on New Year’s Day, as well as appearing in 100 cinemas across the UK, with a one off special titled ‘The Abominable Bride’. A twist from the series, this episode will be set in Victorian London, where Sherlock and Watson face a seemingly impossible case. Danny Bishop – A Camera Operator and Steadicam Operator and Lee Sharp – Second Boom Operator were part of the crew for this 90-minute special, for which you can view the full trailer HERE.
Another returning BBC favourite is Call the Midwife which Richard Moat Line Produced. The first episode of the new series will air on Christmas Day. It will continue the story of the small group of nurses who work in the nursing convent, Nonnatus House during the 1950s in London's East End.
A second cycle of Hollow Crown, this time titled Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses is also seen in the Pure Drama reel, which will be staring an array of talent including Judi Dench, Michael Gambon and Benedict Cumberbatch. Matthew Hanson worked as 1st AD for the series which adapts the Shakespeare plays of Richard III and Henry VI.
Long running series Silent Witness will be returning for its 19th series in 2016. Darren Finch – Costume Designer worked on the series which is about a team of forensic pathologists along with. Also returning for the new year with its 5th series is Death in Paradise, which includes episodes directed by Richard Signy.
Series three of Peaky Blinders will be broadcast in 2016. Mark Hedges – 1st Assistant Director is working on the series which is currently shooting.
Also featured in the BBC Pure Drama trailer is Doctor Who which is now into its ninth series. Our clients Rick Woollard, Peter Wignall and Danny Bishop all worked as Steadcam Operators for Dailies throughout the series. It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Christmas special which airs in the festive period.
