Jo Southwell Director

Having trained in continuing drama, shooting up to 21 pages a day and always meeting the schedule; Jo has a problem solving approach to work. Open to new tech, ideas and collaboration, Jo seeks to find the most efficient, creative and innovative means to direct a story that feels authentic and impactful for the format. Open to new technologies including VR, underwater cinematography and virtual production to push the boundaries of cinematic storytelling.

Passionate about talent, having worked with both new and established actors from India Mullen in Deirdre to Jenny Agutter in Call the Midwife. Being mentored by Jon East on Killing Eve and Jennie Darnell on Trigger Point was a career changer. So much so that Jo is now mentoring a young deaf director/actor, Jude Powel and is an advocate for diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Human led, emotionally driven stories lay the foundations of her work. Story is key.
