Sainsbury’s debut its three and a half minute 2014 Christmas advert on ITV on Wednesday evening.

The Supermarket partnered with Royal British Legion to tell the story of the famous moment on Christmas Day in 1914 when troops from both British and German sides laid down their weapons  and climbed out of their trenches to meet in no man’s land for a Christmas day football match.

Our clients, Al Rae (Steadicam Operator) and Spob O’Brien (Hair and Make Up Designer) both worked on the touching story which Starts on Christmas Eve 1914 when a British soldier hears German troops singing  Silent Night, as he unwraps a gift of a chocolate bar, the only product to be seen in the advert.

After a verse of Silent Night breaks out, with vocals from both British and German troops, the soldiers meet on no man’s land, where two men from opposing sides shake hands and the famous football match begins. As they return to their trenches and the truce ends, a young German soldier discovers that his British friend from the field has hidden a gift of a chocolate bar in his pocket.

These chocolate bars featured in the advert can be purchased from Sainsbury’s until Christmas, with profits going to Royal British Leagon.
